This would be incredibly helpful, though to take it one step further from the 3.3 functionality. It would be helpful if we could temporarily switch materials instead of changing the material completely. I see this becoming useful when presenting diagrammatic renderings to a client but in house coordination, we want to see the model in full color and detail. The current workflow I have to take to get a basswood model to look to a model in Revit is to change all materials over to my pre-made bass wood counterparts, doing this by relinking the file path of the albedo. Then when I am done with my meeting I need to relink back to the colored version. It would be nice if we could do a temporary material override to the selected material like what can be done in V-ray it would allow for rapid visualization. I could also see this being useful when showing different tiles or any other surfaces as a temporary hold. Maybe the client is sold on a certain color of lvt but I want to temporarily show them the possibilities of a lighter or darker wood and even change a wall surface to match the style change. Though in case they don't like it I could just remove all overrides and it is all back to the initial material that I had created.
