Because if the 3d models av unoptimized 2d displays, they become unusable for everything else other than 3d rendering. That results in having to furnish/decorate everything once for plan/facade output and again for 3d rendering. This is double work and also introduces the possibility of mismatch between what is shown on a plan drawing, and what is in 3d.
