The online platform for Enscape users to submit, vote, and collaborate on creative suggestions.
Currently, Enscape automatically assigns material types based on keywords in material names — for example, any material containing "water" is rendered as a transparent, water-like surface. See the documentation for complete list of keywords. While I understand this could be a time-saving shortcut in some situations, it causes serious problems when material names contain these keywords for unrelated reasons.
Two real examples from my workflow:
• "Paint Satin-SW 6215 Rocky River RT" — a standard wall paint color whose name triggers water rendering, making the wall appear transparent.
• "Water rights panel" — a printed display panel for a museum exhibit that becomes unintentionally transparent.
The current workaround is to alter material names (e.g. "Rocky R_iver RT"), but this breaks my workflow for syncing textures and information based on those names, which are often tied to external systems and naming conventions.
Requested feature: Add an option to disable keyword-based automatic material type assignment. This would let users who need precise control opt out of the feature without affecting those who rely on it.
Agree, I found this feature rather annoying than helpful. Resulting in renaming materials to avoid the keywords.
