Currently rendering glass is very limited, feels flat without proper refraction and causitics. We're forced to often jump to other software just for this. We need an optional advanced glass material that lets users turn on real refraction and caustics and be ok with the extra render time.
The shimmer light effect is essential for product shots with vases, drink glasses, lightning containing glass elements, textured and fluted glass.
Hi Tiago,
Thanks for taking the time to share this request and the workflow context behind it. We understand why high fidelity refraction and caustics matter, especially for product style shots like vases, drink glasses, and fluted or textured glass where the light shimmer is a key part of the look.
For Enscape, at this moment we will not be moving forward with adding a path traced caustics and advanced refractive glass option. Enscape is designed to stay fast and responsive for design workflows, and features in this area would come with a performance and complexity cost that does not fit that direction.
If you need photorealistic results for this type of glass rendering, have you had a chance to look at Chaos Envision? It is built specifically with photorealism in mind and is a better fit for advanced refraction and caustics workflows:
