The light source cap of 9.8' is debilitating when using a fixture that is 10' or more.
Give us an option to toggle the limit on or off with instance parameters.
The fact that nested lights within light fixture families look different than the light in the host model is INSANE. why can they not be the same??
Remove the light limit or give us the option to toggle it on or off.
It's insane!
I'll go to Twinmotion instead if this continues to be a problem.
Hello,
Thank you for raising this - I understand how frustrating the current 9.8’ light size limit can be, especially when working with larger fixtures. I’ve checked with our development team to give you a more complete picture of the situation.
The current limit is based on how Enscape approximates lighting when ray-traced artificial lights are not enabled. These approximations work well for smaller light sources, but once the light becomes too large, they can break down and produce incorrect highlights or shadow edges. This is why the limit was originally introduced — to prevent users from running into unpredictable or poor-quality lighting results.
However, things have evolved. With ray-traced artificial lights, larger light sources can now be rendered more accurately, which means the original size cap is no longer always necessary.
We’ve accepted your idea and will explore the best approach through a technical spike to ensure we can expand or relax this limit without introducing new visual issues.
In the meantime, depending on your workflow, placing multiple smaller light sources side-by-side can sometimes approximate the effect of a larger emitter - though we recognize this isn’t always ideal or sufficient.
Thank you again for highlighting this - your feedback is valid, and we’re moving it forward.
