The shift key + right click of mouse is clunky and does not work well. It either does not change the time of day at all or lags and causes my camera angle to change. It would be much better if it was a slider in visual settings similar to how the sky can be rotated.

Sad that this has been closed. It's more the idea behind the interface. Simply stated, this shouldn't be a performance issue. If you can just enter the time you want, you won't keep overshooting it. I have submitted a request for an improvement to this feature from a UI perspective in another thread. Please consider how architects and designers (your customers) actually would want to use this.

It sounds to me like a performance issue you are facing with the lag. Have you tried lowering your quality or resolution settings and then changing time of day?
Changing it should not be a performance heavy task for your computer but if changing the quality settings helps, this is definitely tied to the combination of your project and your hardware and we should get in touch with our support team.
