Hedge material

Hi,

What my colleagues and I are missing is a better way to create a variety of hedges and custom volumes of plants. It would be perfect to have an option for ‘leaves’ that scatter across a plane, just like the ‘grass’ effect does. (However, while grass only grows upwards, leaves should spread in all directions.) The parameters could include:

  • Size

  • Randomness

  • Colors and color variance

  • Density

  • Perhaps a few different leaf shapes

If this effect could be applied to any SketchUp shape, our workflow would greatly improve. The problem with the few standard hedge assets is the tedious positioning and the always visible overlap between the blocks.

Kind regards and thanks in advance.

Being able to have custom shapes for hedges is a fantastic idea!
But instead of providing a specific option just for hedges, we would rather want to introduce more placement methods for Assets in general. When using available hedges for, let's say line placement, you should get a similar effect.

Oh this would be a fantastic feature! A cut above everything else!

These are basically two different requests.

Providing some kind of hedge material that can be applied to a surface is pretty clear.

The situation with the leafs is a little more complicated. Either we would need support for dual layer materials (but here we would not solve randomness) or support procedural materials (which is already submitted here).
